How it was done: Indian Air Force SU30mki

25/03/2016
The original image was taken at RAF Coningsby when the Indian Air Force sent several SU-30s for Exercise Rainbow. This allowed the two nations to train and exchange tactics. The image was captured after the aircraft landed from a training sortie, just as it was turning to exit the runway.
Lowering the exposure (it has already been underexposed purposefully in the camera) and then boosting the contrast allowed the majority of the background to be darkened to black. Highlights were dragged up to bring the aircraft back out of the darkness. After that, it was as simple as cloning the black areas and neutralising the area around the aircraft. The 'spotlight' effect on the ground was simply achieved by cloning the black around to make the curves.

Easy really! ;)
